2025 Narrative Calendar

December 2024

Lucia Mumma and I made a calendar for 2025. The premise of the work was to experiment with collaboration between two people, as well as experiment with developing work for sale.

In the first vein, the work is a successful collaboration. I wrote the narrative, to which Lucia responded to with illustration. Lucia then determined the layout, and we collaborated on the binding and printing. The work is spiral bound, for ease of use, given the content. The work was printed on a Riso Printer, using two colors: green and pink.

In the second vein, some of the design concepts that were informed by the intention of sale. For example, the two-tone color was chosen very early on in the process, in order to reduce cognative and production load later on in the project. The paper choice was determined both by its weight and applicability to the content, but also towards its cost. The calendar as an overall strucutre was chosen because we had data that calendars had done well in the past.
