Industrial Soup
December 2022Industrial Soup was designed as a one of one zine for a class called “machine learning for the arts,” of which the professor has the only physical copy. Here, it’s been readapted for a web-reading experience, with all the grain of the poor printer I used originally.
The conent of the zine came out of a semester when AI was just beginning to scratch the surface of public conciousness. I found myself in the privilaged position of having spent the fall reading papers about the history of the backend of machine learning models, and it seemed exeedingly strange that people were treating the technology like it was some sort of immaculate conception from the womb of silicon valley. “This stuff was not new!” I found myself telling everyone I could. Ultimately though, what else are you going to do about it besides make art.
