Kursi: Chairs in Indonesia
Kursi: Chairs in Indonesia is a colleboration between Qashka Rulino, Kelly Mao, and Max Chu of Active Chapter. The project is the result of Active Chapter’s first wave of “side projects” which introduced external producers to Active Chapter for the first time. As Max Chu’s side project, he worked with Qashka to develop a form that reflected the journey that she went on in 2023, documenting many of the chairs in and around her home of Jakarta, Indonesia.
The project was printed on a trifold of 3’x2’ panels, which were glued together in an accordion style book. The cover has a ribbed hinge. Kursi has been sold through Active Chapter for $15 at Seattle Art Book Fair, Brooklyn Art Book Fair, among other locations.
